Fee to be Charged at Corazzini
Boat Ramp on Weekends
The Town of Shrewsbury has received approval from
the State of Massachusetts Public Access board to charge an $8.00
daily ramp fee at the Corazzini Boat Ramp on North Quinsigamond
Ave in Shrewsbury.
The fee will be charge on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day
to Labor Day. The fee helps the town cover the costs associated
with operating and maintaining the boat ramp property through out
the year.
This will be the first increase in the fee since 1988 when the
fee was implemented.
A message from the Shrewsbury
Garden Club
An Opportunity to Adopt a Plot
The Shrewsbury Garden Club has for many years planted and cared
for gardens in the center of town, the post office, and at the entrance
to Dean Park. With the makeover of the Common and the addition of
more traffic island gardens, plus garden areas at the entrance to
the cemetery and to Prospect Park, we've expanded our oversight
mightily!
While we enjoy the work and its results, we acknowledge that we
have been unable to take on new areas - 'plots' - that the town's
Parks and Cemetery Commission have suggested. And thus, our Adopt
a Plot program was conceived.
Briefly, this project would be to offer plots in our town as places
where a group, or an individual, could plan, plant and tend a small
flower garden. Members of the Garden Club would be happy to assist
in planning, if needed. Below is a listing of places suggested by
the Parks Department where a small garden would help to beautify
Shrewsbury. There probably are many others that you might suggest.
- Entrance to Cemetery
- Entrance to Prospect Park
- Jordan Pond
- Maple Avenue playing fields (probably more than one plot available)
- Small memorial area at entrance to Elm Street at Route 9
- Spring Street entrance to Dean Park
- Gauch Park, corner of Main Street and North Quinsigamond Avenue
- Walter Johnson Veteran Square corner of Main and Main Circle
(Where there is a cement flower box)
- Library areas
- Area of former formal gardens at Prospect Park (in the future)
- Edgemere fire station
- Playgrounds - many in neighborhoods
If your organization would be interested in joining in this new
endeavor or wanting more information, please contact Dot Perkins:
dotrp@townisp.com or Angela
Snell at the Parks Department 508-841-8503. There will be a meeting
April 25th at 7:00 P.M. in the former selectmen's room at the town
hall to acquaint you with the project.
